Mreethmandir Gunjan Kumar Roy

Mreethmandir Gunjan Kumar Roy is an animator and visual artist who grew up in Dhaka and is now based in Helsinki. He works with digital hand-drawn animation, traditional drawing, installation and code-based work. His practice rests on a constant investigation of his surroundings and the feelings particular spaces produce, and his sketchbook drawings act as a way of coping, a record of what he notices and how he reacts to it. His techniques span experimental animation, code-based art and video projection, all used to activate and communicate those drawings. He completed a BFA in Sculpture at the University of Dhaka in 2019, and in 2025 an MA in Animation through the Re:Anima joint masters programme on an Erasmus Mundus scholarship. His work has shown at Myymala2 in Helsinki, the EMK Centre and Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in Dhaka, and in several web-based exhibitions. He curated an animated video-art window exhibition at KissMyARS Galleria, Helsinki, and contributed as an animator to Dhali Al Mamoon's exhibition Atlas of Dissent.
