Artists
A searchable record of artists working with moving image in Bangladesh, both at home and across the diaspora. Each entry carries a biography, a filmography, and links to any of the artist's work showing elsewhere on this site. It is far from complete and never really will be, which is rather the idea. It grows as we find people, and as people find us. The starting point again was an open call for works from Bangladesh and the Bangladeshi diaspora which was made at the end of 2025 as part of the wider Midnight’s Third Child project.

Sounak Das is a multimedia artist based in the Netherlands. His practice runs on curiosity about science and spirituality and an experimental use of media and technology, and his work keeps returning to the entanglement of human, machine and nature through immersive, interactive and speculative storytelling. He is currently on an art-science residency, NeuroNarratives, working with a neuroscientist and supported by the Netherlands Institute for Neuroscience in Amsterdam. He holds an MA in Visual Arts and Post-Contemporary Practice from St Joost School of Art and Design, and studied photojournalism and documentary photography at Pathshala South Asian Media Institute in Dhaka. He weaves photography, sound, film and moving image, performance and sculptural installation to probe the philosophical and metaphysical side of media technology and contemporary politics. His work has shown at Noorderlicht Festival, Horst Arts & Music, Eindhoven Foto Festival, Eye Filmmuseum, Chobi Mela, Dhaka Art Summit and the Kochi-Muziris Biennale. He has been shortlisted for the Samdani Art Award, the Lensculture Art Photography Awards and the Sony World Photography Awards, and his work has appeared in The Guardian and on Google Arts & Culture.
