Anusha Alamgir

Anusha Alamgir is a multidisciplinary visual artist from Dhaka, working across performance, print, music, fashion, painting, sculpture, spatial design and filmmaking. She graduated from the Royal College of Art with an MA in Architecture in 2022, and was commissioned by the Venice Architecture Biennale in 2023 to develop her film Porda, which proposed new forms of veiling as an alternative to the burqa. Her research treats the body as a site of play, something that can be decorated and built up into particular avatars of the self, and she uses this as a starting point for thinking about how the built environment around that body might be designed. She works with the digital as an archiving tool, combining 3D modelling, photogrammetry, photography and illustration to document the fast-changing urban fabric of Dhaka under the pressures of globalisation, social media and youth culture. She also founded Colors Publishers, a publishing house for work by independent authors, artists, designers and other creatives.
