Helal Samrat

Helal Samrat is a multidisciplinary artist based in Dhaka. Originally trained as an engineer, he moved fully into the visual arts after finishing his studies. His practice starts in introspection and personal reflection, with internal thoughts that develop into more complex visual narratives. Working across several media, he explores nature, society, religion, psychology and politics, drawing on everyday life and the mix of identities, beliefs and occupations in the diverse community around him. He treats art as a means of dialogue and understanding. He has exhibited in Bangladesh and abroad, including the 24th and 23rd Young Artist Art Exhibitions and the 25th National Art Exhibition at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, Miniscope and Miniscope-2 at Dwip Gallery, the 2024 exhibition 36 July in Stuttgart, Oyee: A Collective Curiosity at the Brihatta Art Foundation, Border at Space 92 in Gibraltar, and Imago Mundi: Bangladesh in Italy.
