A searchable record of artists working with moving image in Bangladesh, both at home and across the diaspora. Each entry carries a biography, a filmography, and links to any of the artist's work showing elsewhere on this site. It is far from complete and never really will be, which is rather the idea. It grows as we find people, and as people find us. The starting point again was an open call for works from Bangladesh and the Bangladeshi diaspora which was made at the end of 2025 as part of the wider Midnight’s Third Child project.

Zihan Karim is an interdisciplinary artist whose work explores different modes of archiving, focusing on contemporary moving image and video installation. His practice treats art as a form of record and is built on sustained research, alongside a long-running interest in pedagogy. He works across the physical and the digital, using film projections as site-specific interventions that recontextualise the spaces they occupy, drawing on emotion, dynamic imagery and imagination to evoke meaning rather than describe it. His work has shown internationally, including at the Fukuoka Asian Art Triennale (2014), Next Art Tainan (2015), the Yinchuan Biennale (2016), Colomboscope (2016, 2023), the Dhaka Art Summit (2016, 2018, 2020), the Stone & Water Directors' Cut Film Festival in South Korea (2019), the Foundry Art Gallery in the UAE (2021), APT Gallery in the UK (2023) and the Lahore Biennale (2024). His work is held by the Fukuoka Asian Art Museum, Tainan Art Museum, Samdani Art Foundation, Bengal Art Foundation and Durjoy Bangladesh Foundation. His awards include the Asian Art Award (2012, 2016), the Aminul Islam Award (2018), the National Art Award (2020) and the Warden Award from Goldsmiths, University of London (2023).
